Thompson Square's Keifer and Shawna Thompson traveled to Honduras in January to meet Emerson, the child they sponsor through ChildFund International. While on that trip, the couple encountered a young boy who ran up and slipped a note in their hand. It read, "Can you get my school computers to help me do my homework?"
Shawna says, "We were surprised and saddened. Our hearts went out to these kids that deserve the same chance as everyone else. We knew we had to help.”
Since then, Keifer and Shawna worked to get five HP desktop computers donated for the school, thanks to Office Depot. The Thompsons just returned from a trip back to Honduras, where they personally delivered the new computers to the school. The faculty at the school even named the new computer lab in Keifer and Shawna's honor.
Shawna said at the dedication ceremony, "We've been blessed to see our name on a lot of marquees and such over the last few years, but none of them hold a candle to see our name on this."
Thompson Square gets back onstage Tuesday night with a headlining show in Michigan.
