Katy Perry's single "Roar" is a certified smash, but what about the next single from her upcoming album, Prism? Actually, you'll have something to say about that.
Starting today, MTV, Katy and VMA sponsor Pepsi are encouraging fans to tweet the hashtag "#KatyNow" to unlock clues about two of the tracks from Prism: "Dark Horse" and "Walking on Air." The clues will involve lyrics and video messages from Katy about the inspiration behind her songs. Once fans have unlocked the clues, Pepsi and MTV will unveil two never-before-heard preview clips of the songs on Pepsi.MTV.com. Fans will then vote on one of the songs by tweeting its title, along with "#KatyNow."
The song that gets the most votes will be revealed live on MTV, moments before Katy's VMA performance of "Roar," which will take place outdoors in a secret "iconic location" in Brooklyn, NY. That track will then go on sale September 17 as the next single from Prism.
In other Katy news, she's paying her boyfriend John Mayer back for promoting her music: he's raved about "Roar" to Billboard and also posted a photo on his Tumblr page of the gold truck she used to promote Prism. Now, Katy writes on Twitter that fans should check out Paradise Valley, the new album from her "incredible, inspiring boyfriend." She calls it "spectacular" and says her favorite track is #6. That's their duet, "Who You Love."
