New Jefferson Starship Live Album Captures Classic 1975 Performance in NYC's Central Park

Real Gone MusicA new two-CD set documenting a classic free concert the Jefferson Starship played in New York City's Central Park in 1975 will be released on September 3.  Jefferson Starship: Live in Central Park NYC May 12, 1975 captures the legendary San Francisco rockers shortly before they released their chart-topping sophomore album, Red Octopus.

More than 100,000 fans came out to watch the concert, which featured the band performing memorable early tunes like "Play on Love,""Ride the Tiger" and "Caroline," as well as such Jefferson Airplane classics as "White Rabbit," "Somebody to Love" and "Volunteers."  Originally a popular bootleg, the official Live in Central Park NYC release boasts audio from a tape contributed by the band.  It includes the entire show, along with an introduction and stage announcements.

The collection comes with liner notes penned by acclaimed rock journalist Richie Unterberger, with quotes from Jefferson Starship leader Paul Kantner.
