Elton John doesn't appear in the official video for his latest single, "Home Again," which premiered last week, but now you can see the pop-rock legend perform another of the songs from his upcoming album, The Diving Board, in a new clip that's been posted online. The black-and-white video, which you can see at RollingStone.com, features Elton playing "Mexican Vacation (Kids in the Candlelight)" in front of a small audience at Capitol Studios in Los Angles.
The clip, shot a few months ago at a special showcase celebrating The Diving Board's impending release, features John singing and playing piano while accompanied by veteran R&B singer/producer Raphael Saadiq on bass, Jay Bellerose on drums, Keefus Ciancia on keyboards and a trio of backing vocalists. Elton delivers some gritty singing and classic barrelhouse piano on the up-tempo, soulful tune.
"Mexican Vacation (Kids in the Candlelight)" is one of 12 new compositions John co-wrote with his longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin that appear on The Diving Board. The album, produced by T Bone Burnett, will be released on September 24.
