One of the breakout stars of 2013 has definitely been the duo of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who've taken the charts by storm with their catchy-yet-meaningful rap hits. But it turns out they're not just blowing up the charts, they're actually "changing Hollywood for the better." At least, that's what Entertainment Weekly says.
The magazine's new issue is called The New Hollywood, and it spotlights more than 50 members of what the mag calls "the new generation of actors, makers, authors and musicians." Macklemore & Lewis are among the few musicians on the list, and the magazine says the secret to their success is their "genre-bucking beats, wry lyricism" and the "incredibly close collaboration" between the two men.
"Outside of being a great M.C., he was just born to be a performer," Ryan says of Macklemore. "He's that good. Which makes my job simpler and smaller. It's cool."
"Ryan, from the jump, wanted to be a partner," Macklemore says of Ryan. "[He said], 'Let's make records and music videos and photo shoots and let's do this as a team.' We're cultivating art together."
Other stars featured on the New Hollywood list include Mindy Kaling, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Lena Dunham, Daniel Radcliffe, Kevin Hart, Jessica Chastain, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kerry Washington and Melissa McCarthy.
