Getting naked in a music video really pays off. Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" is poised to become her first-ever #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Because Billboard now counts online streams -- such as the kind that result when you play a video repeatedly on YouTube -- in its chart data, Miley's "Wrecking Ball" has posted massive numbers since the video for the song was released last week. Billboard reports that when all is said and done, there could be as many as 30 to 45 million streams total.
On top of that, Billboard reports that the song is likely to sell around 400,000 downloads, which would also contribute to it knocking Katy Perry's "Roar" off of the top of the charts later this week.
If "Wrecking Ball" does debut at #1, it'll be Miley's first chart-topper; "Party in the U.S.A." and "We Can't Stop" both reached #2.
In other Miley news, it appears as though her relationship with fiance Liam Hemsworth is about to be wrecked. US Weekly magazine reports that she's stopped following him on Twitter. The mag also claims that Hemsworth has been seeing actress January Jones, but Jones' rep denies this. Still, an insider tells the magazine that Miley and Liam are "just weeks away from calling it off permanently," adding, "Liam feels very distant emotionally from Miley these days."
