A director has been named for a new film about Elvis Presley. According to Variety, Kevin MacDonald will helm Last Train to Memphis, which counts Mick Jagger as a producer.
MacDonald's previous directing credits include The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, and a TV documentary about Jagger titled Being Mick.
Last Train to Memphis will be based on the 1995 biography by Peter Guralnick and will document the rise of a young Elvis as a music superstar. An open casting call for the lead role is being held via the website YoungElvisCasting.com.
As previously reported, Jagger is also producing a film about James Brown.
