Led Zeppelin Bassist John Paul Jones' Avant-Garde Project Minibus Pimps to Release Debut Album

JohnPaulJones.comLed Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has worked on an eclectic list of musical projects in recent years, including one called Minibus Pimps with Norwegian producer and electronic artist Helge Sten, aka Deathprod.  The duo, which made its live debut back in 2011, is now preparing to release its first album, Cloud to Ground.

U.K.'s Fact magazine reports that the collection is due out on March 3, and will feature recordings from various live Minibus Pimps performances.  The SusannaSonata label's website calls the group's work "highly avant-garde electronic music."  According to Fact, Sten says Minibus Pimps' material offers "composed and improvisational elements on an equal scale."

Jones also has performed frequently with Sten in another band, the jazz collective Supersilent.  In addition, Jones and Sten recorded a couple of songs with Norwegian singer/producer Susanna this past August at Norway's Oya Festival.  A video of one of these performances can be viewed at YouTube.
