Photographer for The Band Uses Kickstarter for Upcoming Book Project

Capitol RecordsBy his own count, photographer Elliott Landy shot more than 8,000 images of The Band, including the pictures that graced the covers of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group's first and second albums.

More than 40 years later, Landy has finally gotten around to compiling a book of choice Band photos, and he's using a Kickstarter campaign to cover production expenses.  So far, he's raised more than $164,000 -- making it the second most-funded photography project in Kickstarter's history.

Landy's Kickstarter campaign concludes Jan. 28 at 3:53 p.m. EST.  Backers who pledge at least $75 will receive a signed regular edition of his photo book; those who pledge $400 or more get a signed and numbered deluxe edition.

Landy, whose other legendary rock 'n' roll photo subjects include Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, describes his Band photos as "my best body of work from the sixties."
