Daft Punk Removes Their Helmets...at Post-Grammy Bash

Bret Hartman/CBSThe French electronic duo Daft Punk didn't think that winning the most prestigious category at music's most prestigious awards show was an important enough event to bother removing their helmets for.  But later on Grammy night, the Album of the Year Awards winners did take off their darn helmets: at a massive bash celebrating their success.

As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Daft Punk took over two floors of the Park Plaza Hotel on Sunday night after the Grammys to host a party featuring open bars, a light-up dance floor and a guest list that included Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and more.  At one point during the night, the duo -- Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo -- removed the helmets to man the turntables, spinning a mix of electronica and '80s hits.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the duo paid for the party themselves, and it marked their first real celebration of the success of their album Random Access Memories and its worldwide hit, "Get Lucky."  The Grammy performance of that song was the only time they'd ever performed it live.  Celebrating with Daft Punk 'til the wee hours of the morning were Jared Leto, Joaquin Phoenix, Lorde, Pharrell Williams, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Beyonce and Jay Z, and Chris Pine.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any photos of the helmet-less duo partying it up.
