It's hard to believe that anyone would compare performing for screaming fans in an elaborate pop music show to undergoing therapy. But Britney Spears says that's exactly how she sees her Vegas show -- because it allows her to temporarily forget all the concerns that come along with being the mother of two young boys.
Speaking to Vegas magazine, Britney, whose sons Sean Preston and Jayden are 8 and 7, says, "When I’m being a mom, I’m mom all the way. I’m worried all the time, and always thinking about what we should be doing and should not be doing. But when I’m onstage, it’s like my therapy time."
She explains, "I get to be this person that I’m really not. It’s a way to get out of my own head and have some fun.”
After a break, Britney returns to her Vegas show, Britney: Piece of Me, on Wednesday night. She'll be performing at the Axis theater at Planet Hollywood through the end of February. Then, she'll take another break, and return in May for more shows. "Headed back to my second home this week - YAY! :)," Britney tweeted.
As for how the show is doing financially, Yahoo! reports that Britney's first four shows in Vegas sold out, and had an average gross of $617,505 per show. By comparison, longtime Vegas headliner Elton John's average gross per show was just under $638,000, while Celine Dion's was just over $717,000.
