Report: Madonna to Join Miley Cyrus for MTV's "Unplugged"

MTV.comOn Wednesday night, we'll get a look at Miley Cyrus performing without twerking, plushies or Robin Thicke, as she strips it down -- this time, we mean her music -- for MTV's Unplugged.  And joining her will be someone who knows all about controversial performances: Madonna.

That's according to E! Online, which reports that the show is taping on Tuesday, and that on Monday, Miley and Madonna got together for a rehearsal on a Hollywood soundstage.  Madonna, of course, was in town for the Grammys, where she performed onstage with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

It's not clear what song Miley and Madonna will perform, but when she sings acoustically, Miley enjoys covering other artists' songs.  MTVs Unplugged airs Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET.

Miley feels a kinship with Madonna, since both have been defined by their controversial MTV VMA performances.  Miley told the New York Times, "No one even thinks about when she did “Like a Virgin” at the VMAs. That just becomes a standard, where it’s just like, 'Oh, that’s her thing.' So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me, and then anytime I do anything else, they’re like, 'Miley kept it tame tonight.'”
