Ringo Starr will be feted at a star-studded musical celebration called A Night of Peace & Love that will be held January 20 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The ex-Beatles drummer will be honored with the Lifetime of Peace & Love Award at the event, which is being presented by the David Lynch Foundation.
Starr will perform at the gala, as will Peter Frampton, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, Toto and current All Star Band member Steve Lukather, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and renowned touring drummer Kenny Aronoff. Acclaimed producer Don Was is serving as the event's musical director.
The bash also will feature a tribute to director David Lynch, who will celebrate his 68th birthday that day. All proceeds raised by the show will benefit Lynch's foundation, which supports and promotes the Transcendental Meditation education programs in schools.
"Ringo Starr has been promoting peace and love for over 40 years -- he is known for peace and love," says Lynch in a statement. "If you are going to give an award for peace and love, the starr of the list is Ringo."
