Ringo Starr will make a guest appearance on an all-new animated Powerpuff Girls special that will premiere Monday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network. In the show, the former Beatles drummer lends his voice to character named Fibonacci Sequins, who's a flamboyant mathematician, and also appears as an animated version of himself in a musical segment in which he sings a new original tune titled "I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl."
You can now check out a clip of Starr's musical performance online that been posted at TV Guide's website. In the video, the cartoon Ringo is shown playing drums as the three Powerpuff Girls accompany him on guitars and keyboards. As he sings about joining the girls' ranks, Starr sings, "I wish I was a Powerpuff Girl…Wear a ribbon in my curls, wear a dress and save the world," and he's suddenly seen sporting a red ribbon in his hair and donning a yellow dress. Then, Ringo joins the Powerpuff Girls by "[flying] to the sky" and "[shooting] sparkly stars out of [his] eyes." He also is shown floating on air while sitting in a groovy meditative pose.
As the clip comes to an end, Ringo declares, "I wish I was a Powerpuff Girl, 'cause then I'd save the world. And afterwards, cuddle up with a puppy or two -- but, most importantly, spread the word of peace and love throughout the land."
As previously reported, the Powerpuff Girls special will be titled "Dance Pantsed," and will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series' debut. The plot of the episode revolves around the villainous monkey Mojo Jojo, who plans to kidnap Fibonacci Sequins and other citizens of Townsville as part of a plot to steal Chemical X, the substance that helped create the cartoon superheroines.
