Bowie, Elvis and The Kinks Among Artists Offering Vinyl Discs for 2014 Record Store Day "Black Friday" Sale'Tis almost the season for limited-edition vinyl releases, as the 2014 installment of Record Store Day's "Black Friday" celebration is scheduled to take place on November 28.  Collectible discs from David Bowie, Elvis Presley, The Kinks and Jimi Hendrix are part of a partial list of releases that will be issued by Legacy Recordings in conjunction with the campaign.

Bowie's contribution to Record Store Day will be a previously reported single featuring his new song "Sue (Or In a Season of Crime)," which also will be included on the influential singer's upcoming compilation Nothing Has Changed, due out on November 17.  The track will appear as the A-side of a 10-inch vinyl disc that will feature another new Bowie song, called "Tis a Pity She's a Whore," on its B-side.

Presley's offering to the initiative is a two-LP, 180-gram vinyl set titled Showroom Internationale that features performances by the late King of Rock 'n' Roll from an August 1970 concert in Las Vegas.  Thirteen of the songs included on the discs are previously unreleased.  The show was originally recorded in conjunction with the 1970 documentary Elvis: That's the Way It Is.

As for The Kinks, their Record Store Day release is an expanded, double-LP, 180-gram vinyl version of their acclaimed 1971 album, Muswell Hillbillies.  The first disc features the original album, while the second contains outtakes from the Muswell Hillbillies sessions, rarities and recordings the band did for famed BBC deejay John Peel's radio show.

Meanwhile, Hendrix's contribution to the campaign is a two-LP set titled Hear My Music that's pressed of 200-gram audiophile vinyl.  The album offers various unreleased studio recordings the late guitar legend made during 1969.

Other artists who will be offering special releases in conjunction with Record Store Day's Black Friday sale include Wham, Joe Satriani, Dave Matthews Band and Miles Davis.  A multicolored, two-LP edition of the American Hustle soundtrack, which features songs by America, Bee Gees, Electric Light Orchestra, Elton John, Tom Jones, Donna Summer and Wings, also will be sold.

To mark each Record Store Day, a wide variety of limited-edition vinyl singles, EPs and LPs are sold exclusively at participating independent record shops across the U.S. and in other countries.  Visit to find out more information about this year's "Black Friday" initiative.
