Apparently, being the guitarist in fun., dating Lena Dunham and writing songs with Sara Bareilles and Taylor Swift just isn't enough to keep Jack Antonoff busy. He's just unveiled a new side project called Bleachers and a brand new single called "I Wanna Get Better;" a full-length album is also in the works.
Bleachers is a solo project for Antonoff; he's the only official member, though he has a variety of project collaborators, including Depeche Mode founding member Vince Clarke, who went on to play with two other popular British synth-pop groups of the '80s, Yaz and Erasure.
Jack and Bleachers are setting out shortly on a mini-tour which kicks off with a show at South by Southwest, and the group will make its network television debut on Late Night with Seth Myers on March 26. Antonoff will have a backing band along with him when he appears on the Bleachers dates.
Jack's buddies Taylor and Sara gave his new project shout-outs on Twitter on Tuesday. Taylor wrote, "Been hearing songs from this project all year and am so excited the first single is out!!!!! YAY" while Sara added, "yayayayyayayya is happening to the world. BLEACHERS."
Jack co-wrote Sara's hit "Brave," and he also co-wrote "Sweeter than Fiction" with Taylor. That song received a Golden Globe nomination.
"I Wanna Get Better" is available at iTunes and all digital music outlets now.
