R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck has just released his second solo album, I Am Back to Blow Your Mind Once Again, on Tuesday. Like his debut self-titled effort, which hit stores in 2012, the new record was issued on vinyl only by Portland, Oregon's Mississippi Records label.
Few official details about the album have been released, but in a recent post on R.E.M.'s official website, Buck suggests that the best way to purchase it is to either pay a visit to "your local small retailer" or to visit LittleAxeRecords.com.
Meanwhile, Buck is set to hit the road for a brief U.S. tour with veteran Austin, Texas-based roots rocker Alejandro Escovedo. The trek kicks off Thursday, February 20, in Milwaukee and winds down with a March 1 concert in Atlanta.
The eight-show tour also includes stops in Chicago, Cincinnati and R.E.M.'s home base of Athens, Georgia. Buck will serve as opening act for all the shows, and also will join Escovedo on stage during his headlining set.
"I've known Alejandro since the 'True Believer' days," says Buck, referring to Escovedo's 1980s band The True Believers. "[I]t's an honor to be able to open for him. I'm also looking forward to backing him during his set."
Here are all of Buck and Escovedo's upcoming joint dates:
2/20 -- Milwaukee, WI, Turner Hall Ballroom
2/21 -- Ferndale, MI, The Magic Bag
2/22 -- Chicago, IL, Lincoln Hall
