Pink to Appear at Academy Awards

Bret Hartman/CBS Though she's acted in the past, Pink has never been nominated for an Oscar.  However, she'll be appearing at this year's Academy Awards ceremony, airing March 2 on ABC.

It's not clear exactly what Pink will be doing at the show: singing, presenting, hanging from the ceiling, or maybe all three. In a statement, the producers say, "We are very excited to welcome Pink to the Oscar  stage for the very first time. She is regarded as one of the greatest voices in pop music and one of the best performers of her generation, and we are thrilled to have her join us for a highly anticipated moment on the broadcast.”

Pink is a friend of Ellen DeGeneres, who's hosting the Oscar telecast this year.  She's also no stranger to award shows, with three Grammys and six MTV VMAs on her shelf at home.  Her most recent acting role was in the 2013 film Thanks for Sharing.  She played a sex addict opposite the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Josh Gad and Mark Ruffalo.

U2, Bette Midler, Pharrell Williams and Idina Menzel are some of the other musical artists who'll be appearing on the Oscar telecast this year.
