With a new CD on the way and his engagement to Jana Kramer firmly in the past, Brantley Gilbert has marked another milestone in his life. He’s moved back to his hometown of Maysville, Georgia after relocating to Nashville during his relationship with the actress-turned-singer.
“You know I tried it up here and it’s a wonderful city, just some great people here,” he says. “Just for what I do and the songs I write I gotta be around home. I gotta be around the things that I’m writing about.
Brantley says returning to his roots helps him not only keep his songs authentic, but also lets him escape the music industry and reclaim some privacy.
“[I’m] too close to the business up here. I’m kind of a private guy you know, and there’s a lot of great music coming out of Nashville but I’ve got to make sure I’m doing my thing and I don’t get wrapped up in what everybody else is doing to a certain extent,” he reflects.
Next up for Brantley, he heads out on the Let It Ride Tour with Thomas Rhett and Eric Paslay. The shows kick off March 27 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
