Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson to Release Concert Video and Album from "Thick as a Brick" Tour

Eagle Rock EntertainmentIn 2012, Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson released a sequel to his band's classic 1972 concept album Thick as a Brick that imagines what paths Gerald Bostock, the precocious fictional child whose story was the basis for the original recording, may have taken over the ensuing decades.  Anderson supported the new record, Thick as a Brick 2: Whatever Happened to Gerald Bostock?, with a tour that featured full performances of both albums at every stop.

Now, a concert video and album documenting a show that Anderson played last year in Iceland is scheduled to hit stores on August 26.  Thick as a Brick -- Live in Iceland will be available as a DVD, an Standard-Definition Blu-ray, a two-CD set and as a downloadable video and album.

Speaking with ABC News Radio in 2012 about the concept behind Thick as a Brick 2, Anderson said, "It's looking at a snapshot of various aspects of today's culture, society, economy [and] religion.  Taking a look at how things have changed in 40 years, and what a different world we find ourselves in, for the most part due, if [for] no other reason, than the enormous growth of technology."

Anderson again revisited the Bostock character for his latest solo album, Homo Erraticus, a collection of songs with lyrics supposedly penned by Gerald based on the writings of a fictional amateur historian named Ernest T. Parritt who died in 1928.  Ian will be playing the entire new album, as well as a selection of classic Jethro Tull songs, on his next U.S. tour, which kicks off September 12 in Seattle.
