Chad Smith and Will Ferrell Challenge Metallica's Lars Ulrich to a Drum-Off

Douglas Gorenstein/NBCThe drum-off between Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith isn't over -- it's about to pick up another contestant.

In an interview with SPIN,  Ferrell says that the pair are throwing down the gauntlet to "a third person that looks eerily similar to Chad and I. A third drummer out there." Smith then drops Lars Ulrich's name.

Ferrell tells SPIN, "Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith. He can settle that score now, too."

There hasn't yet been a response from the Metallica drummer.

As for the original drum-off, there are a few signed swag items left in Ferrell and Smith's charity sale which you can snag, if you act fast.

On the Chili Peppers Facebook page, there's a link to GumRoad.com, which is hosting the sale of cymbals and drum heads -- screened with the Smith/Ferrell Drum-Off graphic and personally signed by both.

A drumhead is $500 and a 20-inch Sabian cymbal is $1,000, with all proceeds going to charities designated by Smith and Ferrell: Little Kids Rock and Cancer for College, respectively. There are less than ten of both items still available.

If you missed the drum-off, you can still catch it on the official YouTube channel of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.   If you'd prefer to make a direct donation to either or both charities, you can do so at LittleKidsRock.org or CancerforCollege.org.
