Billy Idol's New Studio Album Officially Scheduled to Arrive in October

Photo: Charles JischkeBilly Idol has confirmed plans to release a new studio in October.  The record will be his first collection of original tunes since 2005's The Devil's Playground.

No official title was mentioned in the new announcement from Idol, although the punk pioneer revealed in a Twitter message last month that he planned to call the album Kings & Queens of the Underground.  The project was produced by former Buggles and Yes singer Trevor Horn.

Fans can expect to get to hear the first tracks from the album during the late summer.  The release of the record will happen around the same time that Idol will publish his recently self-penned autobiography, Dancing with Myself.  The book, which will hit stores on October 7, follows the singer from his working-class beginnings in London through his tenure fronting Generation X to his emergence as a solo star in the 1980s and beyond.

Idol recently kicked off a European summer trek that's mapped out through a July 4 concert in Luxembourg.  He's planning to continue to tour into next year.
