As impressive as that number is, it was only good for second place on the Pollstar list.  The veteran rockers were bested by boy band One Direction who topped the list pulling in $131.5 million.  Of course, the Stones only played 16 dates to One Direction's 31 in the time span.

The only other rock act in the top five was Bruce Springsteen, who finished at number four with $64.9 million in gross receipts over 32 shows. The Eagles and Billy Joel also placed in the top 10 with $54 million and $50.7 million earned, respectively.

Although Joel came in at #8 on Pollstar's worldwide tour list, all his concerts actually took place in North America, making his $50.7 million gross good for second place among North American tours in the first half of 2014.  He was bested only by country legend George Strait, who recently completed his his farewell tour.

The Paul Simon and Sting co-headlining tour checked in at number five in North America, grossing $29.5 million over the course of 22 concerts. Elton John and Springsteen also landed further down in the top 10.
