Thursday night, Bruno Mars welcomes a special guest to his tour: "Am I Wrong" hitmakers Nico & Vinz. They'll be opening for Bruno for the rest of this month and into August, replacing Pharrell Williams, who bowed out of the tour due to scheduling conflicts. The Norwegian duo says if fans get there early enough to check out their set, be prepared to get on your feet.
"We'll try to make you dance at some point," Vinz tells ABC News Radio, describing the duo's live show. "I guess our goal is just to have fun on stage and hope that that will make you have fun as well. And really have that energy, and just make it...more than just a show: just, like, a great experience."
"We love to perform. When we're on stage, we feel free," Nico adds. "It don't matter if it's five people in front of us or five thousand, we just like to stand on stage and sing. That's the reason why we came into this. Writing music and performing, those are the two most fun things. And also meeting people around the world!"
Their hit "Am I Wrong," definitely a contender for the Song of the Summer, has done just that: allowed the duo to expand beyond Norway and meet people around the world. But there's also been an unexpected side effect: the song is actually inspiring people to try and realize their own dreams, just as Nico & Vinz have done.
"When we get [that] type of feedback, that's probably the most gratifying to hear," says Vinz of the stories fans tell them about how "Am I Wrong" has changed their lives. "That's a huge bonus as well!" laughs Nico. "I can't forget that...that's really rewarding."
Nico & Vinz's run with Bruno ends August 17. They plan to release their U.S. debut album Black Star Elephant later this year.
