Duets with Elton John and James Taylor had already been announced as highlights of Smokey & Friends, the upcoming album of duets from Motown legend Smokey Robinson. Now, the rest of the album's star-studded lineup has been revealed, and the disc's release date moved from September 9 to August 19.
In addition to the previously-reported duets with Elton on The Miracles' classic "Tracks of My Tears" and James on "Ain't That Peculiar," originally recorded by Marvin Gaye, Smokey is teaming up with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Cee Lo Green, John Legend, Aloe Blacc, 'N SYNC's JC Chasez, and Jessie J, among others.
The 11-track Smokey & Friends collection features new renditions of classic tunes written or co-written by Smokey. For example, Sheryl appears on a update of The Miracles' "The Tears of a Clown," while John Legend sings with Smokey on his solo hit, "Quiet Storm."
You can check out an audio clip of Smokey's duet with Elton at Robinson's official website now.
Smokey & Friends was produced by longtime American Idol judge Randy Jackson, and will be available on CD and in digital formats.
