Paul McCartney, Roger Waters Attend Apollo Theater Fundraiser Featuring Performances by Sting, Jon Bon Jovi
Paul McCartney and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters were just two of the many celebrities in attendance at Ronald Perelman's fifth annual fundraiser for New York City's famed Apollo Theater, held Saturday at the multimillionaire businessman's estate in East Hampton, New York.
Jamie Foxx served as the master of ceremonies for the bash, which, according to The Wall Street Journal, included performances by Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Gladys Knight and pop/R&B star Pharrell Williams. The newspaper reports that the ex-Police frontman sang some of his old band's hits, while Bon Jovi, appropriately, belted out a version of the Barrett Strong classic "Money (That's What I Want)."
During the festivities Foxx called on a number of famous attendees to show off their best dance moves, including McCartney, General Colin Powell, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, U.S. Sen. John McCain and director Spike Lee.
The guest list for the fundraiser also included Barbra Streisand and husband James Brolin, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Don Johnson, Lorne Michaels, Penny Marshall and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Tables at the benefit were said to have cost between $50,000 and $100,000.
