Since she burst onto the music scene last year, Lorde's won her fair share of awards, including two Grammys. But she says she'd really like to take home at least one trophy at this Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards, because she thinks it's so cool-looking.
Lorde will be a presenter on the VMA telecast Sunday night, and her "Royals" video is nominated in two categories: Best Female, and Best Rock. If she wins, she'll take home a shiny silver "Moonman" trophy. Asked by the New Zealand Herald what she thinks her chances are, she says, "I don't know ... I'm just happy to be there. I think that is the coolest-looking award, the Moonman. It would be a nice one to have, but I'm just lucky to be there -- it's going to be fun."
Speaking about some of the incredible career highlights she's experienced since she broke through last year with "Royals," Lorde tells the paper, "Bruce Springsteen covering Royals was pretty insane. Bruce is one of those songwriters who I completely idolize, I almost cried when I heard he'd done that."
She adds, "When I heard the album had gone platinum in the States was amazing for me because it kind of solidified for me that it wasn't just about one song."
As for her second album, Lorde says, "I'm just trying to get to the studio whenever I can. I'm insanely busy right now with a lot of stuff, but getting proper work done on the album is what I'm going to be spending my time with once I'm off tour." Her U.S. headline tour kicks off next month.
