Madonna's new album, on which she's been working for months, will no doubt be interesting, considering the cutting-edge DJs and producers with whom she's been collaborating. One of them now tells Billboard that one of the songs for which he has high hopes is something the Queen of Pop herself came up with in the studio, while she was drunk.
Wesley Pentz, known as Diplo, is a top DJ and producer who first hooked up with Madonna when she invited him to her Oscar-night party. He couldn't go, but they started texting one another anyway, and he eventually sent her some music. They continued to text one another before finally getting together in the studio. So far, they've had three sessions in New York.
"I think three [songs] are just like amazing smashes," Diplo tells Billboard. "One is super weird. Late one night in the studio we got a little bit drunk and she improvised a little hook and we made a song out of it."
He adds, "I think it’s going to be a breakthrough if she can manage to get everything together and get it out properly."
Asked what he and Madonna were drinking, Diplo reveals, "Rosé. It was nice. I don’t think she really drinks, either."
No word on when we might be able to hear Madonna's new music. She's also working with DJ and producer Avicii, the guy behind the hit "Wake Me Up," on the new record, which will be the followup to Madonna's 2012 album, MDNA. Avicii previously opened for her on the New York City dates of her MDNA tour, and also remixed her song "Girl Gone Wild."
