Ed Sheeran Wrote Song for Justin Bieber's New Album, but Not One Direction's

ABC/Ida Mae Astute; Peter Yang Ed Sheeran keeps adding to his ever-growing list of songwriting credits. In a new interview with Australia’s Sunrise morning show, Justin Bieber revealed that Ed wrote a track for the Biebs’ upcoming album. Justin said he’s a “big fan” of Ed’s, but wouldn’t give any more details about the tune.

Justin later told New Zealand radio show The Edge he'll reveal the name of his album “within the next couple of weeks.” He confirmed it’s a one-word title.

Ed has written, or co-written, songs for many of today’s biggest pop acts, including Justin’s album release day rivals One Direction, as well as Rixton, Tori Kelly, and Hilary Duff.

In a new interview with MTV, Ed says while he’s worked with 1D on three of their four albums, he didn’t contribute any songs to their new album. Basically, he says, they don’t need his help anymore.

“They’ve gotten to a point where they know how to write songs,” says Ed. “Harry [Styles] was 16 when I first met him…but now he’s 21 and has written with everyone in the world and learned how to write songs, so they don’t really need as much help anymore. They can kind of do their own thing.”
