Michael Bolton Sings Theme Song for Film "Fathers and Daughters"

Naomi Kaltman Michael Bolton channeled his own experiences as a dad in order to write the theme song for the new Russell Crowe movie, Fathers and Daughters. The singer released the emotional ballad today, along with a lyric video.

”I was invited to an early private screening of Fathers and Daughters, and found myself moved to tears,” he tells Billboard. “As a father of three daughters myself, I was compelled to write and record what I felt was an emotionally honest expression to my own daughters.”

The film, which does not yet have a release date, centers on the relationship between a father and widower, played by Russell, and his daughter, played by Amanda Seyfried, over time.

“The context and relevance of the song is very specific to the intense circumstances of the film’s story, but carries a heartfelt universal sentiment that I believe is going to resonate with fathers and daughters most powerfully,” Michael says.

The song, which shares its name with the film, is Michael’s first new release since 2011.
