Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas Announce "Future Now: The Tour" Joint Outing

PRNewsFoto/Live Nation EntertainmentDemi Lovato and Nick Jonas fans, rejoice: the pair announced Monday they're heading out together next year on a joint tour dubbed Future Now: The Tour.  It starts June 24 in Sunrise, Fl and is scheduled to wrap up September 17 in Los Angeles, CA.

“Nick and I have decided, and we are announcing, that we are going on tour next year,” Demi said today on ABC's Good Morning America.

The friends, who first appeared together in Disney’s Camp Rock in 2008, said they're joining forces mainly for their fans. “Demi and I were business partners and, obviously, have a long history of being friends, but the chief [thing] for us was about living in this moment, taking a step out individually over the last year-and-a-half, two years, and growing with our fans and then saying, you know, if there was ever a time to do it, it’s now,” said Nick. “[We’re] so excited to get in front of our fans and rally curate the moment each night.”

Added Demi, “The most important thing is taking the show on the road and getting to share this experience with all the fans that have supported this music for the past, you know, couple of years."

Nick has already been a part of one of Lovato’s world tours, behind the scenes, when he served as the musical and creative director of Lovato’s Neon Lights tour in 2014.  “I was part of the creative team on the tour and the chance to work behind the scenes was fun but now, to do this together, is really special for both of us,” Nick said.

The “Jealous” and “Cool for the Summer” singers are also business partners, having launched their own Safehouse Records record label in May.  “We kind of looked at each other a couple of years ago, about two years ago, and said we each had our own journey with not feeling safe to create...and as an artist you have to be vulnerable to do your best work, or we found that that’s the case,” Nick explained of their inspiration.

He added, “It’s about a community of people feeling comfortable to release things they want to release and have that support, starting with Demi and I, and eventually branching out to other artists and signing new people is the goal but it’s been an incredibly exciting couple of months for us.”

Demi and Nick launched the venture with their shared manager, Phil McIntyre.  “It’s kind of that overall kind of wellness type of environment that you can create music in,” Demi said.

Demi and Nick also tweeted about the tour, providing fans with a link to RSVP.  Tickets go on sale November 6.
