New Sammy Hagar-Hosted AXS TV Series to Feature Appearances by Alice Cooper, Tommy Lee, Heart & Grateful Dead Members

Credit: Arthur RosatoMove over, Foo FightersSammy Hagar has some "sonic highways" of his own to explore.  Next month, a new AXS TV reality series will premiere called Rock and Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar, which will feature the Red Rocker traveling to different cities across the U.S. to interview and jam with various rock stars, including Alice Cooper, Motley Crue's Tommy Lee, Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell and members of Heart and The Grateful Dead.

The debut episode of Rock and Roll Road Trip will air on Sunday, January 24, at 9 p.m. ET and will feature Hagar and his buddy and ex-Van Halen band mate Michael Anthony visiting Los Angeles.  Hagar and Anthony will be seen cruising the Sunset Strip and hanging out at the famed Whisky a Go Go, and then will head to Lee's house to chat, cook some food and rock out.

The six-part series' second episode will focus on The Grateful Dead and will feature Hagar spending time in San Francisco with singer/guitarist Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart.  The musicians will discuss the '60s legends' heyday and their music influences, before Sammy and Bob team up to play the Grateful Dead tune "Loose Lucy," followed by a jam between Hagar and Hart.

Other Rock and Roll Road Trip episodes will showcase a trip to Seattle to play with Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, and a visit to Phoenix to rock with Cooper.  The program also will focus on Hagar's own musical exploits with his star-studded current band The Circle, which also includes Anthony and drummer Jason Bonham.  The group will be shown rehearsing, touring and playing at various events, including Sammy's annual Birthday Bash in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

"Something that's always bugged me is that fans get to see us either on stage in concert or in interviews, and that's about it," says Hagar.  "There's so much cool, history-making stuff that happens off stage that fans have never really had access to, but I do.  And that's where this show takes viewers!  I'm hookin' them up with a real backstage pass."
