Slipknot, Faith No More, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp's Hollywood Vampires to Play Rock in Rio

Credit: M. Shawn CrahanRock in Rio has revealed its initial 2015 lineup, and it's headlined by a bevy of rock's biggest names. Slipknot, Faith No More, Queens of the Stone Age and System of a Down will play the festival, which takes place over seven days in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.

Perhaps the strangest name on the lineup -- not including "Take On Me" singers A-Ha -- is Hollywood Vampires, a new band consisting of Aerosmith's Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and actor Johnny Depp. Depp has previously performed with Cooper, and he recorded background vocals for Aerosmith's Music from Another Dimension and played on Perry's recent Christmas EP.

Interestingly, Depp previously denounced the idea of actors using their fame to start music careers, telling the Sydney Morning Herald that "That whole idea for me is a sickening thing. It's always just made me sick. I've been very lucky to play on friends' records and it's still going. Music is still part of my life, but you won't be hearing The Johnny Depp Band. That won't ever exist." To be fair, The Johnny Depp Band still doesn't exist, but Hollywood Vampires certainly does.

Before Rock in Rio proper takes place in September, the first ever Rock in Rio USA will be held in Las Vegas. Metallica, Linkin Park, No Doubt, Coheed and Cambria, Deftones, Rise Against and many more will play Rock in Rio USA, which takes place May 8-9 and May 15-16.

Rock in Rio 2015 will be held September 18-20 and 24-27. Visit RockinRio.com/Rio for the full initial lineup and ticket information.
