Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner Stars in New PETA Campaign

Credit: Emily ShurWeezer's Scott Shriner is the latest musician to join up with animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The bassist stars in a new campaign for peta2, the organization's youth division. You can watch the ad featuring Shriner and his two adopted Carin terriers, Calvin and Peanut, now on YouTube.

"I guarantee you there's a dog that you're looking for out there that needs a home already," Shriner says in the video. "My wife's adopted, my son's adopted, the dogs are adopted -- and we made this amazing family."

When asked to compare his dogs to Weezer songs, Shriner says Calvin is tough like the riffs of "Hash Pipe," while Peanut fits the vibe of Pinkerton b-side "Tragic Girl."

Earlier this year, The Black Keys donated their song "Howlin' for You" to a PETA campaign.

Other artists to have joined up with peta2 include Rise Against and members of Fall Out Boy and Manchester Orchestra.
