Ed Sheeran Makes His Gruesome Debut on FX Drama; Will Host MTV EMAs with Ruby Rose

Ollie Upton/FXEd Sheeran warned us his new TV role would be gruesome, and he wasn’t lying. The singer made his debut on FX’s The Bastard Executioner last night as Sir Cormac, the protégé of a powerful church elder.

In his first scene, Sir Cormac orders a man’s eye to be gouged out. If you're thinking of watching, the scene isn't for the faint of heart.

“I find that I have reputation of being a smiley approachable guy, so I wanted the opposite,” Ed previously told Entertainment Weekly of the role.

Ed also sings the theme song -- “No Name” -- for the 14th century-set drama, created by Sons of Anarchy creator and writer Kurt Sutter.

If you still can’t get enough of the red-headed musician, Ed will co-host the MTV Europe Music Awards next month with Orange Is the New Black actress Ruby Rose. Ed’s up for four EMAs this year, including Best Male, Best UK & Ireland Act, Best Live Act, and Best World Stage.

The MTV EMAs ceremony will take place October 25 in Milan, Italy.
