Jermaine Dupri Wants to Produce Chris Brown’s Next Album

ABC/Randy Holmes

It's been less than a month since Chris Brown released Royalty, but Jermaine Dupri is already calling dibs on producing his next studio effort.

“I think the world needs Chris Brown and Jermaine Dupri to do a record. I think it’s only a matter of time before that happens at some point,” Durpri tells “I believe he has what it takes to be one of the biggest stars in the world, but he hasn’t found a producer that can really lock in with him to bring his music to life.”

Turns out, the pair already have spoke about the possible collaboration. “I think because I’ve worked with Usher there’s been some hesitance,” said Dupri. “But I feel like people know me as a producer. I make my suits specifically for that person. "

He then points out that the music he did for Mariah Carey "doesn’t sound like my Usher music, my Usher music don’t sound like my Mariah music, so if I made a record for Chris Brown it would very well not sound like either one of those.”

In the meantime, you can catch Dupri creating the next big rap star on his reality show The Rap Game on Lifetime Fridays at 10 p.m.
