Bruce Springsteen Rescued by Veterans on Veterans Day

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagicOver the years, Bruce Springsteen has done much to support U.S. veterans, and his goodwill was returned on Veterans' Day, when some of them came to his rescue.

The Asbury Park Press reports that three bikers from Freehold, NJ were returning from a Veterans' Day event when they stopped to help a fellow motorcyclist stranded on the side of the road near Wall, NJ.  The unlucky biker turned out to be Bruce Springsteen, whose Moto Guzzi cycle had broken down.

One biker, Dan Barkalow, told the paper, "I just pulled over and got off the bike and said 'Hey, I think I know you.'"

The three men couldn't get the Boss' bike to start, so the rocker got on the back of one of their bikes and headed to the Original Mulligans Grill in Farmingdale, NJ.  While Springsteen waited for someone to come pick him up, he bought the men a round of drinks and, Barkalow said, they "talked about old Freehold bands."

“It was nice to help out,” said one of the bikers, Ryan Bailey. “One Freehold person helping out another.”
