The Moody Blues' Justin Hayward Lines Up 2017 US Solo Trek, "The Wind of Heaven" Tour

Credit: Marta PhotographerMoody Blues frontman Justin Hayward has announced plans for a new 2017 U.S. solo trek that he's dubbed The Wind of Heaven Tour. The outing currently is scheduled to kick off February 8 in Alexandria, Virginia, and is mapped out through a pair of March 5 concerts in San Antonio.

The trek gets its name from Hayward's latest studio track "The Wind of Heaven," which is featured on his new solo compilation All the Way and his recent live DVD Live in Concert at the Capitol Theatre. Justin co-wrote the song with his longtime musical collaborator Alberto Parodi and filmmaker David Minasian, who directed the Live…at the Capitol Theatre flick.

"The Wind of Heaven" also will serve as the theme for an upcoming Minasian-directed theatrical movie of the same name that, as Hayward tells ABC Radio, is about "a veteran who comes back from Afghanistan, but the life that he knew just isn't there for him anymore…[so] he eventually goes to work on a ranch and after a few months finds his life again through wild horses." Justin adds that he thinks "The Wind of Heaven" is one of the nicest records he's ever made.

Fans coming out to the upcoming shows can expect to hear Hayward perform the new tune, along with some Moody Blues classics, songs from Justin's 2013 album Spirits in the Western Sky and other selections from his solo catalog. Opening all the concerts will be guitar virtuoso Mike Dawes, who also accompanies Justin during his performances.
