"Hello" Again: Adele Spends 20 Weeks atop "Billboard's" Adult Contemporary Chart

Alasdair McLellanWhen Adele released her comeback single "Hello" last year, it spent 10 weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100.  But it's just passed its 20th week on top of the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and that's a major milestone.

There are only six songs that have ever spent 20 weeks or more at #1 in that particular chart's entire history, which began back in 1961.  The all-time champ is "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker, which racked up a whopping 28 weeks on top.  Next is Train's "Hey Soul Sister," which spent 22 weeks at #1, followed by Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," with 21 weeks.  Also notching 21 weeks at the top: Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come."

"Hello" and Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" round out the list, each having spent 20 weeks at #1.  Adele is likely to overtake at least a couple of those other songs in the coming weeks.

By the way, the Adult Contemporary chart is just one of 13 different Billboard charts "Hello" has topped since it was released.
