Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Coldplay win at 2017 American Music Awards

Dick Clark ProductionsImagine Dragons, Linkin Park and Coldplay were winners at the 2017 American Music Awards, which aired live from L.A. on ABC Sunday night.

Imagine Dragons were named Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group.  During their acceptance speech, lead singer Dan Reynolds commented on the fact that Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato had just performed.  He said, "This is the country that I know, which is one of powerful women. I’m talking about our women; talking about empowering our LGBTQ youth."

"May we continue to progress as a nation towards one of love, of equality, no divide," he continued. "There’s been way too much of that this last year so to start the night like this just feels right.”

He ended by calling for "Peace, love, equality for all!”

ID and R&B singer Khalid later performed a dynamic, exciting mash-up of ID's hit "Thunder" and Khalid's song "Young, Dumb and Broke." Surprisingly, the two songs sound similar enough that the duet worked perfectly.

Linkin Park was named Favorite Alternative Rock Artist, but the producers evidently weren't aware that the band was in the house. They eventually made their way to the stage, where LP's Mike Shinoda dedicated the win to the late Chester Bennington -- specifically, his "memory," "talent," "sense of humor" and "joy." He added, "Take a moment to appreciate what you've got and make Chester proud."

Coldplay, who were not present, won the award for Favorite Tour of the Year, beating out Garth Brooks and U2.
