Josh Homme apologizes after kicking photographer during concert

Credit: Andreas NeumannQueens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme is apologizing for an incident at a concert in Los Angeles on Saturday in which he allegedly kicked a photographer who was shooting the band's performance.

Photographer Chelsea Lauren posted video of the incident to Instagram. In the video Homme is seen walking across the stage playing a guitar solo before pausing on his way back to the mic stand to kick a photographer taking a picture from below the stage. Lauren wrote, "Thanks to @joshhomme @queensofthestoneage I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!?"

Later she posted three other images from the show, two of Homme apparently looking down at her and appearing to prepare to kick, and a third showing Homme bleeding from the forehead after, Lauren says, he cut himself with a knife.

Lauren provided an update Sunday in the second post, thanking people for their support and writing, "My neck is a sore, my eyebrow bruised and I'm a bit nauseous. The doctor released me early in the morning."  She added, "Assault in any form is not okay, no matter what the reasoning. Alcohol and drugs are no excuse. I was where I was allowed to be, I was not breaking any rules. I was simply trying to do my job."

In a statement Sunday on the QOTSA Twitter account, Homme offered a written apology.  Later Sunday he took to Instagram to post a video message saying, ""I'd just like to apologize to Chelsea Lauren.  I don't have any excuse or reason to justify what I did.  I was a total d*** and I'm truly sorry and I hope you're OK.  I've made a lot of mistakes in my life and last night was definitely one of them."
