Chester Bennington, Tom Petty among Google's most-searched of 2017

ABC/Randy HolmesA whole lot of people Googled Chester Bennington and Tom Petty this year. According to the search engine's year-end wrap-up, both late musicians were among the top 10 global searches of 2017.

Petty made number seven on the list, while Bennington came in at number nine. Naturally, the searches peaked for both artists around their deaths on October 2 and July 20, respectively.

Petty and Bennington also top the most-searched "losses" of 2017, followed by Chris Cornell. Searches for the late Soundgarden frontman peaked around his May 18 death, and spiked again around Bennington's death, as the Linkin Park vocalist died on what would've been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Linkin Park also ranks as number two on Google's most-searched musicians and bands ranking.
