Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong selling personal guitars and amps

ABC/Heidi GutmanBillie Joe Armstrong is selling a variety of his own guitars and amps through the Green Day Garage Sale, hosted by online music gear marketplace Reverb.

Among the guitars he's selling is a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Special White, which he played during Green Day's American Idiot tour in 2004, and a 1970s Martin D-41 Acoustic, which can be heard on "21 Guns." Additionally, you can buy the Victoria tweed amp Armstrong used when recording the American Idiot title track.

"Used guitars, in particular, come with a history to them," says Armstrong. "I love the character you can see looking at a fretboard that’s been used -- you can see where someone played it in clubs, in barns, in churches."

The Green Day Garage Sale will launch this Wednesday, December 20 at Reverb.com.
