Killswitch Engage's Jesse Leach launches new hardcore punk band

Credit: Travis ShinnKillswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach is starting a new band. The currently untitled project will explore Leach's hardcore punk influences.

"I've put together a punk hardcore band/project for fun and today is our first jam session here in NY!" Leach writes in an Instagram post. "To say I'm excited is a vast understatement!"

The post is accompanied by the covers of albums by influential hardcore bands Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Black Flag and Discharge.

"This is a side project and it is being done for the pure enjoyment of playing," Leach writes. "It is also a necessary outlet for a singing/yelling style and lyrics I can't fit into any other band or project I've ever done."

Leach and Killswitch Engage will team up with Anthrax later this month for their co-headlining KillThrax tour, which kicks off March 29 in Montclair, New Jersey.
