Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard shares cover of Teenage Fanclub's "The Concept"

Canvasback Music/Turntable Kitchen Ben Gibbard is a big fan of Teenage Fanclub -- so much so that the Death Cab for Cutie frontman is covering the Scottish rock band's 1991 album Bandwagonesque in full. You can listen to Gibbard's take on the album's opening track, "The Concept," now on YouTube.

"Bandwagonesque is my favorite record by my favorite band of all time," says Gibbard in a statement. "It came along at a pivotal time in my musical life and I've loved it for over 25 years. It's been such a blast taking these songs apart to see how they work and then putting them back together again."

Gibbard's Bandwagonesque will be released on vinyl via the monthly subscription service Turntable Kitchen. It'll be available everywhere on July 28.

Gibbard will play a trio of solo shows later this month, including at the Newport Folk Festival, and Death Cab for Cutie has a batch of dates lined up for August and September.
