Skillet launches "The Resistance" in new video

Atlantic RecordsSkillet has shared a new lyric video for their song "The Resistance," a single from the band's latest album, Unleashed.

The clip, which premiered on, features intense live footage of the Memphis rockers while lines like "It's our resistance/you can't resist us" flash across the screen.

As the band tells Billboard, they wrote "The Resistance" during the lead-up to the 2016 election. "There was all of this anger coming out from all different directions," says frontman John Cooper.

"My goal with this song was not only to inspire people to rise up and speak for what they believe, but I also wanted to speak what I believe," he adds. "And that message is that, as the song says, 'Love is the answer.' It's about change, it's about respect, and it's about loving those who you disagree with."

Unleashed, which was released August 2016, also features the singles "Feel Invincible" and "Back From the Dead." Skillet is currently touring the U.S. in support of the album.
