With new app, Incubus' Mike Einziger's bringing sound board-quality live music to your earbuds

ABC/Randy HolmesIncubus guitarist Mike Einziger wants to let you listen to a live concert straight from the sound board.

The musician is launching an app called MIXhalo that will allow you to listen to the sound board audio while you're at a show, simply by plugging your headphones into your phone.

Speaking with Forbes, Einziger says he hopes that MIXhalo, which was demoed at this year's TechCrunch concert, will be available for you to download in the fall.

"We're talking with one of the major concert promoters about a trial run at a prominent L.A. theater and that should be happening very soon, if all goes well," he says. "And I’m hoping we can start releasing it commercially in the fall."

Pharrell Williams, producer Rick Rubin and entrepreneur Elon Musk are also involved with MIXhalo.

While you wait for MIXhalo to arrive, you can still see Incubus sans app on tour in support of their new album, 8.
