Foo happens: Dave Grohl was preparing to direct a feature film when Foo Fighters "[got] in the way"

ABC/Fred WatkinsDave Grohl is a man of many talents: he can drum, he can sing, he can play guitar -- sometimes with a broken leg. Lately, the Foo Fighters frontman has also shown his penchant for visuals by directing the videos for the band's new songs "Run" and "The Sky Is a Neighborhood." But are feature films next? Well, someday.

Grohl, who made his directorial debut with the 2013 documentary Sound City, tells Rolling Stone that he was actually getting ready to direct his first big movie when music called again.

"Last year, I was approached to make a feature film and I was a little hesitant at first, and then I got into it," says Grohl. "I started working on production and getting into casting with these big names."

Grohl adds that he "really got into the script and visualizing the story," but had to step way from the project.

"Someday, I'm going to wind up doing it. But the Foo Fighters always get in the way," he laughs.

"That film's still in rewrites and once we get the rewrite happening, I'm sure that the casting will kick in and pull our teams together," Grohl continues. "But I like my day job. I really enjoy my day job."

Both "Run" and "The Sky Is a Neighborhood" appear on the forthcoming Foo Fighters album Concrete and Gold, which will be released September 15.
