Watch now: Foo Fighters drop new single & video, 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood'

Chris Hyde/Getty ImagesWe’ve got new Foo Fighters music to carry you through your Wednesday, and a cool new video to go with it.

The band dropped “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” this morning, the second single release from their forthcoming Concrete and Gold album, due out September 15.  “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” follows up the album’s first single release, “Run,” which topped the Billboard rock chart last month and scored the band an MTV Video Music Award nomination for best rock video.

There’s also a spacey, stargazing-inspired, Dave Grohl-directed video for “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” online now, featuring the Foos rocking out with stars in their eyes -- literally.

“One night I was lying out looking up at stars,” Grohl says in a statement of the inspiration behind “The Sky Is a Neighborhood.”  “Just imagining all of these stars as places that have life on them as well, and I decided that the sky is a neighborhood, that we need to keep our s**t together in order to survive in this universe full of life.”

In keeping with the song and video’s theme, Foo Fighters are also offering a free website that allows you to explore the cosmos in 360 degrees.  Go to on your mobile device, share your location, and wherever you point your phone, you’ll see the stars and constellations in that area, shining above an outline photo of the Foos.  If you get tired of the celestial beauty, you can switch between it and watching the new video.

The U.S. leg of the Foo Fighters world tour kicks off Oct. 7 at Cal Jam 17 in San Bernadino, CA.  Check out all of their tour dates on the Foos’ official website.
