Lauded prog-rock drummer Bill Bruford releasing box set focusing on his eponymous band

Winterfold RecordsBill Bruford is among the most respected drummers in the history of the prog-rock genre, having played with Yes, King Crimson and Genesis at different points in his career. Now, a new and expansive box set called Bruford 1977-1980: Seems Like a Lifetime Ago that focuses on the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee's eponymous band Bruford is scheduled to be released on October 28.

Bruford's group also featured guitar virtuoso Allan Holdsworth, bassist Jeff Berlin and keyboardist Dave Stewart -- not to be confused with the founding Eurythmics member of the same name.

The limited-edition collection features six CDs and two DVD-Audio discs, including remixed or remastered versions of the Bruford band's three studio albums -- 1977's Feels Good to Me, 1979's One of a Kind and 1980's Gradually Going Tornado -- as a well as a newly remastered edition of its 1979 live album, The Bruford Tapes. The box set also contains two discs of previously unreleased material -- a concert album called Live at the Venue that was recorded in London in 1980, and a collection of 18 studio sketches from 1980 titled The 4th Album Rehearsal Sessions.

As for the DVD-Audio discs included in the package, they feature 5.1 surround sound mixes and remastered versions of the original mixes of Feels Good to Me and One of a Kind.

In addition to the music, Bruford 1977-1980: Seems Like a Lifetime Ago includes a 16-page booklet with new interviews with some of the band's members, a new essay and more; two black-and white photos of the band; a color Live at the Venue poster; and a signed and numbered certificate of authentication.

The box set, which was produced by Bruford, can be pre-ordered now at BurningShed.com and PledgeMusic.com.
